The World's Largest Semiconductor Manufacturer
For more than twenty years, the world's largest semiconductor manufacturer has relied on Big J in the world's most demanding manufacturing environment. Big J has successfully installed miles of high purity piping and hundreds of multi-million dollar wafer fabrication tools under the extreme schedule pressure of major tool ramps including conversion to 300mm wafers. With each passing year, the technical demands of the work have increased and the customer's continuous improvement programs have demanded greater productivity. In response, Big J has acquired more sophisticated tools and developed new production techniques to meet and exceed productivity demands. Big J's successful track record with this customer has resulted in invitations to install teams at two other plants. General Mills Inc.
The Albuquerque General Mills (GMI) plant was designed to produce five million cases of breakfast cereal per year. It produces more than fifteen million. This extraordinary productivity is the result of an endless quest for process improvements by plant employees and management, which has meant constant tuning of machinery, machinery placement and product movement through the plant. As a result Big J has maintained a permanent staff at the GMI plant for more than fifteen years, and the GMI team has played a crucial role in helping GMI employees achieve their productivity gains. Most importantly, Big J employees have learned how to get their work done productively in a busy production environment with a wide variety of potential safety issues for employees and potential for product contamination. Sandia National Laboratory
When Sandia National Laboratory undertook the largest construction project in its history, the Micro Electronic Systems and Assembly (MESA) facility, it chose Big J for its mechanical contractor. Big J performed mechanical work from base build, to PSSS to final tool install. In this very demanding high technology environment, Big J's deep experience with semiconductor manufacturing was the key factor. A challenging project, Big J's performance led Sandia to award Big J the general contract for PSSS and tool install where we coordinated mechanical, architectural and electrical trades to complete the job ahead of schedule and below budget.
Los Alamos National Laboratory
For many years Big J has been an approved supplier to Los Alamos National Labs. From construction to complex fabrication, Big J has supported the Lab's complex and highly secure environment. The large-scale research projects undertaken at the Lab often require creative design, fabrication and installation of highly specialized equipment. Our extensive experience in highly complex production environments has made Big J a logical resource for the Lab's many research groups.
Air Products and Chemicals, Inc.
Big J has worked extensively with Air Products, which is a major supplier to the world's largest semiconductor manufacturer's Rio Rancho, New Mexico, plant. Supporting Air Products equipment, Big J has fabricated and installed high purity gas piping, measurement and control systems. Our highly skilled detailers specify complex assemblies which we then fabricate using our in-house clean room facilities and orbital welding systems. These assemblies are sealed, transported to the site and are installed quickly and cleanly maximizing productivity, shortening schedules and minimizing the environmental impact to the plant.
LPR Construction
LPR Construction is a Colorado based steel erection contractor, which in recent years has developed a niche in power plant construction. Big J Fabrication Division has supported LPR by building carbon steel pipe spools from two- to twenty-four inch diameter pipe for coal power plants in projects in Las Cruces, New Mexico, and Lamar, Colorado, as well as an innovative biomass plant in Estancia, New Mexico.
